Sam is an integral player in the fishing industry, both nationally and regionally in the South West. A member of the NFFO, the main representative body for fisherman in England and Wales, Sam sits on the executive committee, the federation’s policy body, taking part in deliberations and decision making. Sam's 30 years experience as a fisherman - currently fishing with a ring-net for sardines - provides him with a valuable insight into all aspects of the industry.

Dr. Simon Walmsley

Simon is the Head of the Marine Programme at WWF-UK. He has been with WWF for 8 years and manages members of staff working in the North East Atlantic, East Africa and Fiji dealing with diverse issues such as fisheries, marine protected areas, ocean governance, climate change etc. He also manages WWF-UK interests in the Antarctic and Arctic regions. Roger has been involved with marine conservation for Natural England and Joint Nature Conservation Committee since 1987. His roles have included diving, shore surveys and in his current role the promotion of conservation and sustainable development at a local level.

Joan Edwards
Head of the Marine Conservation Programme, The Wildlife Trusts

Working within the Wildlife Trust for more than 7 years, Joan was the first environmental representative to join the Sea Fisheries Committee. She is presently responsible for the development, management, promotion and implementation of marine policy programmes throughout the Wildlife Trusts.

Malcolm Gilbert
Fisheries Representative, National Federation of Sea Anglers and European Liaison Officer, Bass Anglers Sportfishing Society
Malcolm is a keen angler and has been involved in sport and recreational fishing for more than 40 years. He currently owns a catching, fish processing and distribution business for recreational angling baits. Malcolm is also a Ministerial appointee to the Cornwall Sea Fisheries Committee.

Mark Greet
Managing Director, Falfish
Mark is director of one of the largest fish processors in the South West. Falfish has a customer base of supermarkets within the UK and Europe, 60 per cent being export markets. His former roles include both buying and marketing roles for the Co-op and Somerfield supermarket chains, working in both fresh and frozen food sectors which included fresh fish. Mark is involved in numerous fishing related organisations including Seafood Cornwall.

Diana is responsible for land based and natural resource management projects for the SWRDA. This includes fisheries projects, the Strategy for Sustainable Farming and Food for the Region.

Jim Portus
Chief Executive Officer, South Western Fish Producer's Organisation (SWFPO)
Jim's strong seafaring background includes twelve years service in the Merchant Navy, where he spent time as Captain. His varied experience also includes such roles as a fisheries inspector for the MAFF at Brixham.
In addition to his role as CEO for the SWFPO, Jim is currently the Chairman of the UK Association of Fish Producer's Organisation, Chairman of the Royal National Mission to Deep Sea Fishermen in Brixham and Director of SW Pesca.

Paul Trebilcock
Chief Executive of Cornish Fish Producer's Organisation (CFPO)
From a fishing family, Paul has also been involved professionally in the fishing industry for more than seven years. He has a deep understanding of quay side realities as well as the political complexities of the fisheries involved.
As CEO for one of the largest producer organisations in England Wales and Northern Ireland, Paul is responsible for managing the majority of UK quota opportunities in the Western approaches and Celtic sea, as well as marketing catches.
The CFPO has long been recognised as one the most pro-active and visionary fishermen's organisations in Europe and continues to be at the forefront of innovative fisheries management.
