South West Recreational Sea Anglers

Recreational Sea Angers are directly affected and sometimes restricted by fisheries management policies. The Invest in Fish report The Motivation, Demographics and Views of South West Recreational Sea Anglers and their Socio-economic Impact on the Region (click here to view) provides insight into anglers’ view of current fisheries management policies and their suggestions for future management options. The report, as its title suggests, also looks at recreational sea anglers’ potential economic contribution to the region and investigates the drivers and the interdependencies between recreational sea angling, commercial fishing and the environment.

“Invest in Fish South West provides a ground breaking ‘first’ opportunity for the recreational sea angling industry to be involved in determining the best options for rebuilding fish

stocks” says Malcolm Gilbert, representative of recreational sea anglers for the Invest in Fish South West project.

Malcolm is also the Fisheries Representative for the National Federation of Sea Anglers and the European Liaison Officer for the Bass Anglers Sportfishing Society.
